Licence

When you buy Premium, you get an activation code. This page covers entering it, what the Licence window shows, using one licence on several computers, keeping updates going, and what to do when activation fails.

Activate Premium

After payment, the activation code comes by email. It has twelve characters and looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

1. Open the menu and choose Licence. Without a licence you can also click You are using the free version at the bottom of the window.
2. Paste the code into Activation code or licence file.
3. Click Activate.

Activating with a code needs the internet: NeoDownloader takes the code to our server and gets back a licence for this computer. The badge at the top of the Licence window changes to Premium, and the free version's limits are lifted at once, without restarting NeoDownloader; a run already going keeps the limits it started with.

Keep the email with the code. The same code activates Premium on your other computers, and on a new computer when you move.

A licence file

The same field takes a licence file. Open the file in Notepad, copy all of its text and paste it into Activation code or licence file. A licence file is checked on the computer itself, so activating with one needs no internet.

The Licence window

Besides the menu, the Licence window opens from the Licence link in About…. At the top it shows Free version or Premium. With Premium, below that are the name the licence is registered to and how long its updates run: Updates until and a date. If this version of NeoDownloader came out after that date, the line says Updates ended on and the date instead; see Updates and renewal.

With Premium, the field is folded away. Enter a new key opens it, to put in a different code or licence file. Below are two buttons:

• Check now asks our server whether anything about your licence has changed, such as a renewal.
• Deactivate removes the licence from this computer and frees its seat; see Move to another computer.

Without a licence, the field is open, with Activate and Upgrade to Premium below it. Upgrade to Premium opens the order page in your browser.

Five computers

One Premium licence works on up to five computers at a time. Each computer where you activate it takes a seat, and Deactivate gives the seat back.

What counts is the computer, not the copy of NeoDownloader:

• Updating NeoDownloader keeps the licence, and so does removing the installed version and installing it again: the licence is kept in the data folder, with your projects.
• A portable NeoDownloader taken to another computer has to be activated there again, and takes a seat there. Its folder keeps the licence of one computer at a time, so back on the first computer it has to be activated again too.
• After Windows is installed from scratch, the licence sees a new computer. If you can, deactivate before reinstalling Windows.

Move to another computer

1. On the computer you are leaving, open Licence and click Deactivate while you are connected to the internet. The seat is freed right away, and this copy of NeoDownloader returns to the free version; projects and downloaded files stay.
2. On the new computer, install NeoDownloader, open Licence, paste the same activation code and click Activate.

Without the internet, Deactivate removes the licence from this computer only, and the seat stays taken. If a computer is gone and you cannot deactivate on it, write to us.

Updates and renewal

Premium includes a year of updates, and Updates until in the Licence window shows when that year ends. After that date NeoDownloader goes on working as Premium, and so does every version released until then. A version released later needs a renewal. How NeoDownloader tells you, and what happens if you install such a version without renewing, is in Updates and Premium.

After you renew, open Licence and click Check now: the new date appears in the window.

Checking the licence online

NeoDownloader also checks the licence by itself: when it starts, then once a week, and once a day from two weeks before your updates end until two weeks after. That is how a renewal reaches it without the button. Without the internet the check is skipped, and the licence goes on working. What the check carries is in Privacy.

The automatic check can be turned off: Settings… → Program → General → Check the licence online. Check now works either way.

If you bought NeoDownloader 5

A NeoDownloader 5 purchase includes a year of updates, and version 6 is one of them. If you bought or renewed version 5 in the twelve months before we sent out the version 6 codes in September 2026, we emailed you an activation code for version 6. If you ordered more than once from the same email address, one code covers all of those orders.

Activate it as described in Activate Premium; the Licence window then shows how long its updates run. The same code also registers NeoDownloader 5 and 4. If no code has reached you, write to us.

Money back

If Premium turns out not to be for you, write to us within 30 days of buying, and you get the full payment back.

If activation fails

When activation fails, the window says why, under the field:

Message	What to do

That code is not right. Check it for typos or No such activation code	Copy the code from the email and paste it rather than typing it. If that does not help, write to us.
Every seat on this licence is in use. Remove the licence on a machine you no longer use	The licence is already active on as many computers as it allows. Deactivate it on one you no longer use; see Move to another computer.
This licence is activated on another machine	The licence file was made for another computer. Activate with your activation code instead.
