License Agreement for Use and Distribution

This license agreement is between you and Neowise Software, the copyright holder of NeoDownloader. It covers both the Free and Premium versions of NeoDownloader.

1. Ownership

NeoDownloader is copyrighted software. All rights not expressly granted in this agreement are reserved by the copyright holder. The software, including all code, graphics, user interface, and documentation, is protected by copyright laws and international treaty provisions.

2. Free Version

Without a license key, NeoDownloader runs as the Free version. You may use the Free version for an unlimited period of time, free of charge. It limits how much a project can hold and the quality of downloaded video; the current limits are listed on the website. The Free version is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Premium License

A Premium license key removes the limits of the Free version. By purchasing a Premium license, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use NeoDownloader on up to 5 of your computers at the same time, for any lawful purpose.

The license covers every version of NeoDownloader released during the period of updates that comes with it, and those versions remain licensed to you permanently. A version released after that period runs as the Free version until the license is renewed.

You may not rent, lease, share, or sublicense your license key. A Premium license may be permanently transferred to another person only with prior written consent from the copyright holder and only if the recipient agrees to all terms of this agreement.

4. Distribution

The unmodified installer and portable archive of NeoDownloader may be freely distributed. No person or entity is authorized to charge a fee for such distribution, to bundle NeoDownloader with other software, or to distribute a modified copy of it, without prior written permission from the copyright holder.

5. Plugins and Recipes

The plugins and site recipes that come with NeoDownloader are open source. They are provided as source code in the installation folder, and their code is licensed under the MIT License, whose text is in each plugin's folder: you may read, change, copy, and share them under its terms, and use them as the starting point for plugins and recipes of your own. The plugin SDK is licensed under the MIT License as well.

A plugin that includes a download engine licensed under the GNU General Public License is distributed, together with that engine, under the terms of that license. The licenses of what a plugin includes are shown on that plugin's page in the program's settings.

Plugins and recipes that you write yourself are yours. Modified plugins and recipes are used at your own risk and are not covered by support.

6. Restrictions

The plugins and recipes are covered by section 5. Apart from them, you may NOT:

Modify, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it
Rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the software
Get around the license check or the limits of the Free version in the program
Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks
Distribute modified versions of the software

Any unauthorized use will result in immediate termination of this license and may lead to legal action.

7. Third-Party Components

NeoDownloader includes third-party components, and each of them is licensed under its own terms, which apply to it instead of this agreement. Among them are Electron with the Chromium browser engine, the Python runtime, FFmpeg, and the download engines that some plugins bundle. The license texts of Electron, Chromium, the Python runtime, and FFmpeg are in the installation folder, and those of the libraries a plugin bundles are on that plugin's page in the program's settings.

NeoDownloader uses these components and does not claim ownership of them.

8. Disclaimer of Warranty

NeoDownloader is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The author shall not be liable for any damages - including but not limited to data loss, loss of profits, or any other incidental or consequential damages - arising from the use or misuse of this software.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50 USD).

10. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of NeoDownloader complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and third-party terms of service. The software is a tool - you are responsible for the content you download and how you use it.

11. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using NeoDownloader, you agree to abide by the terms of this license agreement.

12. Termination

If you do not agree to these terms, you must uninstall NeoDownloader and delete all related files from your devices. This license terminates automatically if you violate any of its terms.
