Help
How NeoDownloader works, step by step, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Start here
Getting started
Install NeoDownloader, download from your first site and find the files - the whole way, step by step.
Basics
Working with projects
Projects
What a project is and what its card says; finding one among many; tags; changing a project; deleting it and bringing it back from the trash.
New project
Every way to start a project, what each step of the wizard asks, how a plugin is chosen for the address, and what the last step decides.
Downloading
Starting, stopping and continuing a project; the queue; following a run and the reasons it waits; the free version's limit mid-run; and closing the window.
Files
What a project has downloaded - three views, sorting, filters and search, the viewer, what you can do with a file, deleting files, and files that are no longer on disk.
Journal
What the Journal tab records, the lines you will meet most often and what they mean, and how to copy the journal for support.
Plugins and sites
Plugins
The four plugins that come with NeoDownloader, how one is picked for an address and when to try another, and the Plugins page in the settings.
Video Downloader
What Video Downloader takes, the quality and what the free version allows, how the files are named, subtitles and covers, and sites you have to sign in to.
Gallery Downloader
What Gallery Downloader takes, choosing the sections of a profile, how the files are arranged and named, sites you have to sign in to, a cookies file, access to DeviantArt, and the videos and texts it does not take.
Crawler
The sites Crawler knows by name, the four kinds of page it reads anywhere else, where it may go and what it keeps, when it uses a browser, its manners, and pages you look at before a run.
New search
Starting a project from a search on Google Images, Flickr, Unsplash, Pexels, Wikimedia Commons or Bing Images instead of from an address, and what happens when you download from the results.
Signing in to a site
When a run opens a site's page for you, where the sign-in is kept, what closing that window does, and why what downloads afterwards counts as your account's activity.
Address patterns
One address that stands for many - ranges with steps, letters and word lists, where to type them, which plugins take them, and when brackets are just brackets.
Settings
Free version and Premium
Free version and Premium
What the free version allows, what happens when a project reaches a limit, the strip at the bottom of the window, and what Premium changes.
Licence
Activating Premium, using it on up to five computers, renewing updates, codes for version 5 buyers, and what to do when activation fails.
Your data
Data and folders
Where NeoDownloader keeps its own data and where it downloads, the rule that nothing is written above a project's folder, moved folders and external drives, and the absence of backups.
Privacy
What NeoDownloader sends on its own and what never reaches us, which of those requests you can switch off, and why its window opens only on this computer.
Using what you download
Who decides what may be taken and what NeoDownloader does around that - where every file came from, notices about a site's own terms, the pace a run keeps, and what the program deliberately does not do.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
What to do when NeoDownloader says something went wrong, arranged by where it happens - making a project, a run, downloading files, sites, files on disk and the window.
Reporting a problem
What to put in a message to support - the version, the project's journal and NeoDownloader's log - and what not to send.
Common questions
The free version and Premium, the licence on several computers, which sites work, where your files go, warnings from Windows, and what NeoDownloader does not do yet.
