Free version and Premium
NeoDownloader works without a licence, with no time limit and no registration. The free version has a few limits, and Premium lifts them. This page lists the limits, says what happens when you reach one, and what stays the same.
The limits

What counts are the files a project holds - the ones it has downloaded. Files that were found but not downloaded, that failed, that the filters left out or that you deleted in NeoDownloader do not count; a file deleted or moved outside NeoDownloader still counts. Projects in the trash do not count either; a restored project does, so while there is no room a project cannot be restored and stays in the trash.
When a project reaches a limit
- With 10 projects, New project and New search open the Free version limit window instead of their own window: The free version keeps up to 10 projects.
- The file that brings a project to a limit stops the whole run, and files still downloading go back to waiting. Starting a project that is already at a limit opens the same window. More in The free version's limit.
- Video quality above 1080p is shown but cannot be picked; see Video Downloader.
The Free version limit window names the limit and lists what Premium lifts, starting with the limit you reached; then comes 30-day money-back guarantee and a link to the full comparison on the order page. Upgrade to Premium opens the order page in your browser, and Close closes the window.
The strip at the bottom
Without a licence, a strip along the bottom of the window says You are using the free version. It cannot be closed. Click the words to open the Licence window, where the Activation code or licence file field is already open and Upgrade to Premium is below it. The Licence window is also in the menu. With a licence the strip goes away.
What is not limited
Everything else is the same in both versions: every plugin, every site, the size of files, how many times a project runs. The free version has no time limit and does not ask you to register.
Premium
Premium is a one-time payment of $29.95, and it includes a year of updates. Every version released during that year stays Premium for good; another year of updates costs $19.95. If Premium turns out not to be for you, you can get your money back within 30 days. See the order page.
Once you have bought it, enter the activation code in the Licence window: the limits are lifted without restarting NeoDownloader. More in Licence.
